Kayaker fights for life after Brisbane River incident

In breaking news, a kayaker is in a life-threatening condition after falling into the Brisbane River this morning.
The Queensland Ambulance Service says five units, including a High Acuity Response vehicle, were deployed to an address on Hill End Terrace in West End about 5.40am.
The service said an adult male was treated at the scene.
The South Brisbane Sailing Club is located on Hill End Terrace.

Plane turned around after midflight emergency

A plane that took off from Brisbane Airport yesterday was turned back after a midflight emergency.

With more than 80 people onboard, flight VA1239 travelling to Rockhampton was redirected back to the capital due to a reported steering hydraulic fault.
It was the second flight to Rockhampton turned back that day.
“I’m pretty bummed,” one passenger told Nine News. “I wanted to go home, but it is what it is.”

Ride to work today for a free coffee
It’s National Ride2Work Day today and to celebrate, Bicycle Queensland is handing out free coffees at the Velo Cafe at Queen’s Wharf from 6.30am to 8.30am, limited to the first 200 coffees.
