A woman has been charged with the murder of another woman, whose body police say was found after being in an Ipswich home for two weeks.
Officers were initially called to Beryl Street in Bellbird Park on February 20 about 11.30am to reports a person was causing a disturbance on the street.
Police then discovered the body of a 42-year-old Springfield Lakes woman, identified as Katherine Sanowski, in the home.
At the time, Detective Inspector Michael Manago said police believed Sanowski’s body had been in the home for about two weeks.
Manago previously said the disturbance had related to reports of damaged property, and a person interfering with traffic on the street. Neighbours reported a person had been pacing the street for days in the same pair of clothes.
Police said Sanowski had not lived at the property, and had not been reported missing by her family, with whom she was in regular contact.
Police took a 34-year-old woman who lived at the address into custody.
Police said they had initially been assisting officers with inquiries while receiving a medical assessment. The woman was hospitalised and was unable to speak with officers for some time.
On Tuesday, police charged the 34-year-old woman with murder as a domestic violence offence.
She was due to appear in the Ipswich Magistrates Court on Tuesday afternoon.
Police said the 34-year-old woman was not related to Sanowski, although detectives earlier said the dynamics of their relationship were a key part of the investigation.
A homicide investigation was launched after a post-mortem examination of Sanowski identified suspicious elements.
