City investigates allegations of dog attack at Quinns Rock park

A man who assaulted a boy during a dispute over how he was treating his dog is also under investigation by the City of Wanneroo, after a German shepherd he was walking allegedly attacked a woman and her pets at a local park.

David George Appleby, 57, faced court this week, accused of assaulting a 15-year-old boy with a tyre lever, resulting in a gash to the teenager’s head, after the boy asked him to stop whipping and punching his dog.

Appleby said he thought the teenager was going to attack him with his skateboard. He pleaded guilty to animal cruelty and aggravated unlawful wounding.

Now, after 9News Perth reported that incident, a woman has come forward claiming Appleby’s dog attacked her and her two staffies at a park in Quinns Rock.

Meadow Springs home raided by police

Police are investigating an incident near Mandurah, with the Drug and Firearm Squad conducting a search warrant at a home in Meadow Springs.

Officers arrived at the scene along Canterbury Terrace around 2pm on Thursday, with neighbours telling 9News Perth that a woman had been arrested a short time later.

Police spent the night at the home, and left just before 7.30am on Friday morning.

It is understood a family with primary school-aged children were living at the address, owned by the Department of Communities.

Police have said that while inquiries remain ongoing, there is no risk to public safety.
