Two charged over alleged kidnapping of boy in Melbourne’s west

Two teenagers have been charged with kidnapping after a boy was allegedly abducted and forced to withdraw money in Melbourne’s west this month.
Police allege the 16-year-old boy was assaulted, forced into a stolen car, driven to an ATM and made to hand over more than $1000 to a group of four who approached him as he was walking along Hollis Way, Truganina, at 10.45pm on November 8.

They say the boy was also made to transfer money electronically before he was dropped on Edgevale Way in Tarneit, where he was left with minor injuries.
The boy and the group were not known to each other.

On Sunday, police said they had charged a 17-year-old boy from the Yarra area and a 17-year-old boy from the Wyndham area with kidnapping, false imprisonment, robbery and assault.
The boy from the Yarra area has been remanded and the Wyndham boy bailed. Both will appear at a children’s court at a later date.
