Today’s Logie Awards has proven tricky from the outset, with wild weather in Sydney and the closure of the Harbour Bridge, due to the Palestine protest, making it more difficult than usual to arrive at the Star Casino in Pyrmont.

Our live blog will start on the red carpet, with Fashion Editor Damien Woolnough taking us through the best looks of the afternoon, while reporters Karl Quinn, Bronte Gossling and Nicole Economos will be talking to the stars as they arrive.

The afternoon will go something like this:
-Red carpet from 3.30pm.
-Live broadcast starts at 7pm on Seven, with the red carpet show.
-The awards start at 7.30pm, hosted by Sam Pang for the third year in a row.

I hope you can stick with us for some - or all! - of the event, which I shamelessly love for its celebration of Australian TV.

Golden girl number two: Poh Ling Yeow

By Damien Woolnough

Gold Logie nominee and Masterchef judge Poh Ling Yeow took inspiration for her corseted dress with a voluminous olive green drop waist skirt from the Paris runway.

The dramatic gown is by leading Sydney couturier Nicky Apostolopoulos, the creative force behind Velani.

“We played around with silhouettes, but Poh definitely wanted the corsetry,” Apostolopoulos says. “She wanted to be snatched.”

Apostolopoulos used vintage gold lace for the corset, with a lace-up back, popularised on the runway at US designer Daniel Roseberry’s shows for Schiaparelli at Paris Fashion Week.

The skirt colour has a welcome touch of Scarlett O’Hara’s curtain dress from Gone With The Wind about it.

“Mom would have loved this,” Poh told Apostolopoulos. “She loved clothes. She loved glamour.”

Poh’s mother Christina died in November 2022, so she is walking down the red carpet on August 3 with her father, Steven.

Golden girl number one: Julia Morris

By Damien Woolnough

Fashion editor Damien Woolnough here, kicking off the taffeta deep dive into the Logies red carpet, starting with confirmed fashion addict Julia Morris.

Before tackling the red carpet with her usual fervour, comedian and television host Morris demonstrated on her social media accounts the full range of motion her strapless gown by Melbourne couturier Alin Le’Kal achieves.

With a strapless black bodice and generous layers of black and white tulle, the Gold Logie nominee and host of I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here, can clearly reach for the statuette, should she be fourth-time lucky.

The red carpet is open for business with one of our first arrivals, Gold Logie nominee Poh Ling Yeow from MasterChef Australia on Ten!

Earlier this year Poh spoke to our Deputy TV editor Meg Watson about her rise from much-loved contestant to well-loved judge on the cooking show: “It’s been so awesome to have this full circle moment and be back again. It’s been such a crazy journey. It really has.”

How well do you know your Gold Logie history?

By Nell Geraets

Did you know the Logies were named after an electrician?

John Logie Baird, to be precise. He was a Scottish engineer credited with demonstrating the first working television system. In 1960, Graham Kennedy decided the award show should be renamed in his honour. The rest, as they say, is history.

If you knew this (claps all round if you did), you may be in with a good chance of acing our Logies history quiz. If you didn’t know this, consider it a fun guessing game.

You can test your Logies knowledge right here, right now:
