Annabelle Cleeland and her five-year-old daughter Quinn (c) with Lou Webb (l) and her children Tom and Fred, 3, and George, 6, and Felicity Jeffrey and her children Jemima,6, Sebastien,4 and Claudio,1, stand in the burnt out Jeffrey property in Whiteheads Creek. All three families homes were decimated by the Longwood fire in early January and now the kids are looking to head back to school. A number of schools and kindergartens in the Seymour area are either closed, have had delayed starts impacted by the bushfires.

Colin Arnold from Graze Away has been grazing his goats on the Mullum Mullum Creek in Ringwood reducing weeds; however, the council is now ending the popular initiative due to costs. The shorter grass has encouraged the native reeds to grow and frogs to return along with platypus, and rakali (Australian water rat).

Sculptor Peter Schipperheyn with his sculpture of Amy Sherwin in his Donvale studio. Greens party founder Bob Brown  initiated fundraising to have two of them made and installed in Hobart’s Hadley’s Orient Hotel. Amy was a world-famous opera singer.

Crystal Wong and her daughter Arya, 10. Crystal toured 30 schools after a search for the right school for her daughter turned into a hobby. She now runs the Melbourne Schools Discussion Group on Facebook, which has 50k members who discuss pros and cons of schools.
