A terminal at Brisbane Airport has been evacuated due to a technical fault, causing significant delays.

A metal detector was found to not be working correctly in the domestic terminal before 5pm.

Everyone in the terminal was asked to leave. All were required to go through security again for a second screening.

That process had begun as of 6.15pm.

A spokesperson for the airport said “it will take some time” to complete the re-screening.

“The fault was quickly identified and there is no safety or security threat.
