A 17-year-old boy is fighting for his life in a Melbourne hospital after he was critically injured before a cricket match in the city’s outer-east.
Emergency services were called to Wally Tew Reserve in Ferntree Gully at 4.45pm on Tuesday.

The teenager was assessed and treated by specialised paramedics and then rushed to hospital.
“A teenage male has been transported by road ambulance to Monash Medical Centre Clayton in a critical condition,” an Ambulance Victoria spokesperson said.
The match was part of a Twenty20 tournament, according to the Ferntree Gully Cricket Club Facebook page.
Monash Medical Centre declined to comment.
