Sydney man charged over alleged public shooting plot after tactical police storm house
A 24-year-old man will face court on Tuesday after he was charged with allegedly plotting a public place shooting in Sydney’s south-west, two days after heavily armed tactical police stormed the Fairfield West home where he was later arrested.
Regan Yaw Lee was charged with directing the activities of a criminal group and recruiting others for criminal activity at Cabramatta Police Station on Monday, after an investigation into the alleged public place shooting plot began this month.
It followed a dramatic search warrant by tactical police at a home on Isis Street, Fairfield West, in which the occupants were asked to leave the address with their hands above their heads.

A drone was seen flying over the address before the raid began, while officers searched between the cars parked on the road.
Officers dressed in camouflage and carrying rifles, pistols and riot shields then raided the home, allegedly seizing illicit drugs and a mobile phone, before arresting Lee at the home on Monday night.
His arrest came hours after a second home on Kent Road, Greenacre was raided, where police seized another phone. Police cars blocked off a section of the street, as heavily armed tactical police raided the property.

Lee was charged with knowingly directing the activities of a criminal group, recruiting others to engage in criminal activity, participating in criminal activity, two counts of possessing an unauthorised pistol, using, supplying, acquiring a defaced firearm, discharging a firearm with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and conspiracy to commit a criminal offence.
He will also face three counts of supplying a prohibited drug at more than an indictable quantity, and two counts of supplying a small quantity of drugs. Investigations into the shooting plot are ongoing.
NSW Police Commissioner Mal Lanyon said the shooting allegedly plotted by Lee was targeted, and not an attack on the public, as he praised the work of officers laying charges against the man.
“Our investigations haven’t stopped … we’re not focused on letting any of those crimes go,” Lanyon said.
“I’m really proud of the work to actually put the 24-year-old male before court this morning. It’s a great arrest.”
