Paul Bassat, the co-founder of Seek, and his wife, Sharon, have put their stunning Sydney home on the market with a price guide of $11 million.
The couple purchased the two-storey designer residence for $10.25 million in 2022 from Christian Millett, records show, of the Millett Group hospitality family that owns popular Bondi Beach bar Salty’s as well as a number of Byron Bay venues.
This masthead previously reported that the Bassats considered the Sydney property to be their summer holiday house as they are primarily based in Melbourne.
Interiors ooze relaxed glamour and beach house vibes, with blackbutt floors and custom joinery, a Calacatta marble island kitchen, expansive glass and statement lighting. There is a mosaic-tiled pool, terrace and lawn to kick back and relax in style.
Bedrooms are on the upper level with a custom-fitted study, while the lower level is dedicated to living and entertaining. A bonus is the home’s proximity to the surf.
Paul co-founded job site Seek with his brother Andrew Bassat and tech entrepreneur Matt Rockman in November 1997, and the website was launched four months later.
At the time of publication, Seek had a market capitalisation of $4.82 billion.
Paul left Seek and went on to establish technology venture capital giant Square Peg Capital in 2012 alongside Tony Holt, Barry Brott and Justin Liberman, and in 2023 founded community organisation Amplify Australia.
An auction has been scheduled for Tuesday, June 16, and the listing agents are Alexander Phillips and Vince Licata of PPD Real Estate.
Vaucluse home could quadruple in value
Faye Duncan, the chief executive and founder of Australian conglomerate Kadelco, has put her untouched Vaucluse mansion on the market with a price guide of $23.8 million, local sources have revealed.
It’s understood no renovations or enhancements have been made to the six-bedroom, three-bathroom home since Duncan bought it for $5.56 million in 2008, records show.
The two-storey brick house has a grand entry foyer, high ceilings, polished jarrah timber floors, whitewashed walls, a generously sized white kitchen and tiled floors.
There is a saltwater pool, balconies, poolside entertainer’s terraces and landscaped gardens that offer uninterrupted views across Sydney Harbour, Hermit Bay, the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and city skyline.
Kadelco is an international corporation headquartered in Australia, and since 2006 it has built infrastructure and industrial projects, from rail and ports to fuel cell technology and agriculture, according to the company website. It claims to have the capacity to fund projects from $US50 million (just over $70 million).
Vaucluse’s house price record of $65,250,000 was set in 2017, when hotel mogul Jerry Schwartz and his wife Debbie bought a six-bedroom, six-bathroom abode from Singaporean tycoon Chio Kiat Ow.
The property will go to auction with a date yet to be scheduled. Alex Papa of Bradfield BadgerFox declined to comment on any aspect of the listing when contacted by this masthead.
Designer abode for sale
Collette Dinnigan has used her designer skills to restore her country estate in the Southern Highlands, shared with her real estate agent husband, Bradley Cocks. It’s now on the market with a buyer’s guide of $5.5 million.
The fashion designer bought the four-bedroom, four-bathroom house in Robertson for $2.85 million in 2022, records show, and embarked on an extensive renovation.
Local sources not authorised to comment publicly say the couple are selling as they are spending more time in the Harbour City due to their children’s schooling. They are believed to have initially considered the Robertson home to be their Highlands retreat.
The couple also own another Southern Highlands property in the nearby town of Bowral, a three-bedroom, two-bathroom home, purchased for $3.5 million in 2018.
The estate for sale consists of a main three-bedroom residence with timber floors, marble bathrooms, bay windows, French doors and wraparound verandahs. There is separate guest accommodation and a new shed with recycled timber floors, a kitchen and bathroom.
There’s ample space to unwind and get in touch with nature, with recycled brick pathways, ornamental gardens, an orchard, vegie gardens, fenced paddocks and a chicken coop.
Cocks, of Drew Lindsay Sotheby’s International Realty, is handling the sale of his own home.
