Residents have been urged to stay indoors as firefighters battle a blaze at a home in Brisbane’s north.

An emergency declaration was made about 7am on Sunday due to the fire on Kinsellas Road West in Mango Hill.

Three sheds at the back of the property were alight, with “a lot of stuff to burn” inside, a Queensland Fire Department spokesperson said. The resulting smoke prompted an emergency declaration.

Four people were assessed by paramedics but did not require hospitalisation. Ambulance crews remain at the scene as the incident is ongoing.

Residents on Kinsellas Road West, Diamond Jubilee Way, and Waler Close have been asked to stay inside with their windows closed and their airconditioners on recirculation mode, if possible. The community has been asked to avoid the area.

Photos shared on social media show thick black smoke billowing from the home, and residents have reported a strong odour.

While firefighters work to hose down the blaze, an excavator is being used to pull apart the material in the sheds.
