It took only one sit on Artemex for in-form jockey Nash Rawiller to give his tick of approval for a shot at the $1 million Golden Gift (1100m) on debut at Rosehill on Saturday.
The unraced Ciaron Maher-trained colt, a $120,000 Magic Millions buy, was $3.80 with TAB and battling Breeders Plate placegetter Revengeance ($3.50) for favouritism in the feature for two-year-olds after an explosive finish to a win a 818m Warwick Farm trial on October 31.

It has been the only public hit-out for the son of Exceed And Excel, which weaved a passage between runners from back in the six-horse field under Rawiller, who then recommended he go to the Golden Gift rather than the $160,000 Max Lees Classic (900m) at Newcastle the following Saturday.
Rawiller, who put on a riding masterclass for a treble at the Big Dance meeting at Randwick on Tuesday, hoped the exciting prospect could continue his recent success, which has also included the Craven Plate and Hill Stakes with Lindermann and a group 3 double at Caulfield.
“I’ve had a pretty solid couple of weeks, thanks to Lindermann, Private Eye and you could say this little two-year-old, he could be one for the future,” said Rawiller, who backed up his Big Dance win on Gringotts with a double at Kyneton on Wednesday.
“He’s one you could take to the Magic Millions, so it’s always good when you’ve got something to look forward to.
“I feel there’s some good race form in the race still. [Revengeance] couldn’t have been more impressive in defeat at its first start, but I couldn’t have been more impressed with my bloke.
“We were forced to come back, get him to relax and travel in that trial. It was a fairly slowly run heat early, but he adapted and come back underneath me. He was quite explosive when the run came.
“It gave me the confidence to come back and say he certainly deserves a crack at what is not an easy race for him first time out, but he’s got that potential. The stable did have an opinion of him so it was nice to see him come out and control like that.”
Rawiller also has top hopes in the other features, the $2 million Five Diamonds (1800m) with Rise At Dawn ($6) and the group 2 Hot Danish (1400m) with Miraval Rose ($2.30 favourite).
Lindsay Park’s Rise At Dawn, coming off three placings in stakes races this preparation, has the advantage of gate one, whereas group 1-winning favourite Transatlantic ($2.60) as the outside barrier. Both will likely push forward early and Rawiller planned to make the most of the gate.
“I hope it makes a difference to help us break through for a well-deserved win,” he said.
“With a horse like him, I’ll just be nice and positive from the gate and see what they want to do, but the idea would be to make it hard for him to cross me. If they do, hopefully they’ve done enough work that we can have the last shot.”
Miraval Rose, from the Grahame Begg yard, led and finished fourth last start in the Tristarc Stakes after winning her previous two.

“There was a fair bit of pressure on her up front last start, so she was left vulnerable and probably still did a good job to hold on for fourth,” Rawiller said.
“She comes up here in good form, a good break between runs, so that should help.”
Rawiller hoped for a big finish to his spring carnival before starting a suspension that ends Wednesday week.
