Selections based on a soft track

RACE 1

1. I’m Charming was a trial winner on the Riverside here before making his debut with a third behind Stern Looks. He’s drawn wide in this event but based on the first run in a race and the trial, looks to have ability. He wasn’t beaten far on debut, and a bold showing is on the cards again. 7. Judith’s Revenge has been placed in two of her four starts and resumes from a spell on the back of two recent trials, winning the latest of them on the Riverside. 2. Made Easy is having his first start in a race and ran third in a trial behind Judith’s Revenge. 3. Will One ran well on debut when second to Cootamundra and since finished sixth at Goulburn. He can lift in this.

How to play it: I’m Charming WIN.

RACE 2

1. Scarli Japali has been racing well with a third at Newcastle before a last start fourth at Warwick Farm against handy opposition. This looks a nice race. 3. Valentine John has been thereabouts of late and isn’t out of this. 4. Will To Excel arrived in the nick of time to win on the Riverside track when last produced. 5. Goofinator was edged out by Will To Excel when last produced and is worth plenty of thought.

How to play it: Scarli Japali WIN.

RACE 3

10. Roonami is lightly raced with four starts, and she hit the line well enough when a last start third at Canberra. She looks hard to hold out. 9. Hip Hip Ole debuted with a fourth at Bathurst and isn’t out of this. 5. Belnera has been placed in five of 14 starts and looks capable of figuring in the money. 1. Noir Vitesse resumed from a long spell with a second on the Riverside track and is worth plenty of thought here.

How to play it: Roonami WIN.

RACE 4

4. Hot One has been racing well with a couple of placings from her latest two starts. If she can maintain that, then she should be hard to hold out. 2. Freud is a well-bred galloper having its first start for a new stable. A bold showing looks to be on the cards. 5. Lost Ya Sock is a last start winner on the Riverside and looms as a chance here. 9. Carry On Lizzy is never too far away and can get into the minor money without surprising.

How to play it: Hot One WIN.

RACE 5

1. Taumata is in a leading local stable and wasn’t beaten far when resuming on the Riverside track when last produced. With the benefit of improvement, he should be hard to hold out. 4. Kelilah comes into this on the back of a last start second at Forbes and should be thereabouts again. 7. Star Empire was close-up at Goulburn at his latest start and warrants respect. 6. Majestic Deel is a last start Albury winner that is drawn wide here but has the ability to go on with the job.

How to play it: Taumata EACH WAY.

Race 6:

2. Sonic Scene broke through to score a win at his fourth start in a race. He followed that up with a last start third at Albury and needs to maintain that form to be hard to hold out here. 1. Kotaishi hasn’t been far away in his recent runs and can show up without surprising if he can run up to that form. 3. Boom In The Dark has one win from 16 starts but hasn’t been racing badly and could show up here. 5. Luna Jet has been just behind the placings in both runs back from a spell and is not out of this.

How to play it: Sonic Scene WIN.

RACE 7

1. Canny Hell tackled a much stronger race at Flemington when last produced. He is much better suited here and if anywhere near his best he can bounce back to form. 3. Villasaurus has also been taking on city gallopers in recent runs before being spelled. He resumes after an Albury trial and a Wodonga jumpout and looks set to run well. 7. Buenos has a great record and needs to maintain her best to be a major factor. 9. Stupendo is a last start Goulburn winner with claims.

How to play it: Canny Hell WIN.

RACE 8
2. Baggage Handler is resuming from a spell after two jumpouts. He’s won two from six and should be primed to run well in this company having finished fifth on the Acton track at Canberra before the break. 5. Pussyfoot has shown potential and resumed from a spell with a close-up fourth at Dubbo having contested city events before the break. 7. Soho Sushi is also first-up from a spell and won a recent Canberra trial in preparation. 3. Melidesh returned from a break for a new stable with a seventh at Kilmore and he has two wins and eight placings from just 15 starts.

How to play it: Baggage Handler WIN.

Best Bets:
Race 2 (1) Scarli Japali; Race 6 (2) Sonic Scene.
Best Value: Race 5 (1) Taumata.
