Selections based on a soft track.

Race 1

4. Maxxed Out ran last on debut at Taree and then has since had a trial leading into this resuming run. He won that trial at this track and looks set to sprint well fresh in this. 2. Dividends Paid is on debut and has had one trial leading into this event. He was close-up when finishing second in that trial at Port Macquarie. 7. La Regina ran second in her only trial at Coffs Harbour and should get every chance from the inside barrier in this. 8. Pompeii Jewell has finished fourth in both trials either side of a break and warrants respect.

How to play it: Maxxed Out WIN.

Race 2

4. Caledonian has been racing well with some just behind the placings efforts before a last-start victory at Coffs Harbour when holding on well to score a strong win. A repeat of that effort would have him hard to hold out again here. 5. In The Fine Print has been racing well with a win at this track three starts ago being followed by successive seconds at Lismore and Murwilumbah. He only needs to run up to recent efforts to be in the thick of things again. 8. Sunny’s Girl was a winner at this track two starts ago and finished third last time out behind Baby Ryan. 9. Bianco Nero is talented and finished off well when scoring at this track two starts ago. Another bold showing would have her in the finish of this.

How to play it: Caledonian EACH WAY.

Race 3

2. Never Island has been racing well with a second at Grafton two starts ago and then ran well again when fifth behind In The Fine Print at this track when last produced. She was beaten less than a length in that event and only needs to reproduce that effort to be hard to hold out here. 1. Aitutaki ran a last start eighth at Eagle Farm when resuming from a spell and should find this more too her liking. 8. Felasuvi has been racing well with a win at Kempsey being followed by a last start second at this track and shouldn’t be far away again. 4. Willingale hasn’t been too far away of late and can show up again here without surprising.

How to play it: Never Island WIN.

Race 4

3. Indiana Dream ran well in two trials before making his debut with a solid fourth at Gosford when beaten just over four lengths. He should be improved by that hitout and can make the necessary improvement here to be hard to hold out. 4. Insain Chaos resumes from a spell here and ran second at this track before the break. He’s had a trial leading into this and wasn’t beaten far in that which augurs well for this return. 2. August Rush has only had two starts and has finished in the placings in each of those two starts at this track. Another forward showing is on the cards. 6. Ol’ Mate Coop was a last start placegetter at this track when finishing second and has been placed in five of seven starts in total. A bold showing would not surprise.

How to play it: Indiana Dream WIN.

Race 5

8. Edge Of Midnight has been racing in fine form with three wins from his last four starts. He won at Port Macquarie before scoring at Taree in two starts either side of a fourth at the Beamont track at Newcastle. He looks suited in this and can finish off well to be in the finish again. 1. Gold Card led throughout to score a win at this track when last produced. He did the job well in a small field to win that event and should be thereabouts again with a repeat. 2. Lordster ran fourth in the same race Gold Card won when last produced and can get into the minor money without surprising. 13. Monte Cruise has a good record with three wins and two thirds from nine starts and comes into this on the back of a trial win in good fashion at this track on December 27.

How to play it: Edge Of Midnight WIN.

Race 6

3. Baby Ryan is lightly raced with two wins from eight starts. He has been racing well with a second placing at Grafton being followed by two straight victories at this track. Another bold showing looks to be on the cards in this line-up. 2. Talana wasn’t far from metropolitan winner Petticoat when third in a trial at this track and was just behind the placegetters when resuming at Lismore last month. He looks capable of racing well in this. 6. Cardsharp resumed from a spell with a fourth at Lismore before scoring a good win at this track when last produced and looms as a danger again. 7. Havieron ran last at Grafton when last produced but can improve in this.

How to play it: Baby Ryan WIN.
