Police reveal reason behind mystery crime scene in Attadale

After five days of remaining tight-lipped, WA Police have revealed a forensic tent set up outside a unit on Money Road since Thursday is linked to a missing persons case.

Attadale man, Jayden Selfe, 33, was last seen in May.

In August, police received a tip-off about his disappearance, which led to the Major Crime Division becoming involved in the investigation. The Money Road unit is being searched as part of that investigation.

WA Police released the details on Monday afternoon, after initially refusing to provide media and nieghbours with any information about the reason behind the heavy and ongoing police presence on the suburban street.

“It would be good to have some information, it’s been a bit annoying, but yeah,” neighbour Jakeb Holland told 9News Perth on Saturday, three days into the forensic search.

Earlier on Monday, Police Minister Reece Whitby also refused to be drawn on the case.

“I’m not going to comment on or get involved in an operation with police,” he said.

“What I can tell you is that there is no threat to the community currently from that situation, the police are engaged in that inquiry, and they have been for a couple of days, and they will continue to pursue that investigation.”

When a reporter noted it was unusual for police not to provide the basic details of the case, Whitby responded: “I’m not going to get into that, it is a matter for the police, it’s their operation.”
