A Perth man has been charged over threatening to kill the Prime Minister and New South Wales Premier.

WA Police allege the 19-year-old used a social media platform to send messages threatening to kill Anthony Albanese and Chris Minns on Wednesday afternoon.

Police say the teenager was arrested at his Meadow Springs house just after midnight on Thursday morning by officers from the state security investigations group.

He has been charged with one count of threatening to kill, and will face Mandurah Magistrates Court next month.

He is the second man to be charged with allegedly threatening the Prime Minister in two days, with a second man charged in Sydney over phone calls police say he made to the Prime Minister’s office.

Gregory Williams Tait, 43, allegedly phoned Albanese just after midday on December 15, the day after the Bondi terrorist attack.

He told media at a court appearance on Wednesday he was “Team Australia”.

The Prime Minister’s office and the NSW Premier’s office have been contacted for comment.
