The driver of the Kia slowed down to turn into the car park and allowed the pregnant woman to cross when the BMW allegedly crashed into the back of it, pushing the Kia forward and hitting the woman.

NSW Ambulance treated the woman at the scene before she was taken to Westmead Hospital in a critical and unstable condition. She and her unborn baby later died.

Both drivers of the Kia and BMW were uninjured and taken to Hornsby Hospital for mandatory testing. There were no passengers in either car.

Police arrested the 19-year-old man just before 1am on Saturday.

A crime scene has been established, and a police investigation is ongoing.

More to come.
