A man is in police custody after he displayed “concerning behaviour” minutes before another man was found stabbed to death in Coolangatta.

Officers were called shortly after 1pm on Thursday following reports a man in his 20s was acting strangely and had fled the area, which led them to a home on Dutton Street.

Paramedics arrived at the home to find a man in his 50s with life-threatening stab wounds, who succumbed to his injuries at the scene.

Police alleged the younger man fled north, and was tracked to an address in Upper Coomera, where he was taken into custody.

Officers suspected the two men knew each other.

Two crime scenes were established on Thursday afternoon, at Coolangatta and Upper Coomera, and detectives said investigations were continuing, with charges yet to be laid.

Anyone with information that could be linked to the investigation, or footage of either crime scene, was urged to contact police.
