A man has been charged over a fatal collision in Melbourne’s south-east in May involving an electric bike that was allegedly illegally modified.
Police charged 24-year-old Jacob Charleston on Monday morning with five offences including dangerous driving causing death, seven weeks after his bike struck 69-year-old William Lothian on Frankston-Flinders Road in Hastings.

Lothian later died in hospital, while the rider was also left with serious injuries.
Other charges against the 24-year-old Hastings man include exceeding the prescribed concentration of drug, unlicensed driving, using an unregistered motor vehicle and using an unsafe or unroadworthy motor vehicle.
Charleston was due to face Melbourne Magistrates’ Court on Monday afternoon, before his case was adjourned to Tuesday.
