A man, 36, accused of the attempted violent invasion of Mick Malthouse’s home earlier this month is among three people arrested over a months-long crime spree.
Malthouse, 72, was woken by noises at his door in the middle of the night on Thursday, September 4.

He said at the time he managed chase off three men using a piece of exercise equipment as an improvised weapon, but as they fled, one stabbed him in the chest with a screwdriver.
The former Collingwood and West Coast coach refused medical treatment and was critical of Victoria’s laws on crime following the incident.
On Thursday, police confirmed they had arrested three people in Moonee Ponds after the trio allegedly rammed two police cars and attempted to flee on foot. The Age has confirmed these arrests also relate to the Malthouse incident.

A 36-year-old man from Ascot Vale has since been charged with 25 offences including burglary, attempted aggravated home invasion and intentionally causing injury.
When contacted by The Age, Malthouse declined to comment on the arrest as the matter now before the courts, but praised the work of Victoria Police.
“The police have been outstanding through all of this, it’s in their hands now,” Malthouse said.
Meanwhile, a 33-year-old woman from Point Cook has been charged with four offences including contravening bail conditions, and a 48-year-old man from Pascoe Vale charged with 15 offences including aggravated intentional exposure of police officers to risk by driving.
All three are due to face court today, and police say the charges relate to alleged incidents in suburbs including Armadale, South Yarra, Maribyrnong, South Morang, Campbellfield, Lynbrook, East Melbourne and Sunbury since July.
