Top trainer Kris Lees and jockey Andrew Gibbons are out to strike at Taree on Sunday when they combine with a couple of leading chances.
Gibbons will link with Lees when riding new stable acquisition Daddy’s Girl in the Insuremore.com.au Benchmark 58 Handicap (2012m), while the jockey will also partner Trounce when the mare contests the Taree & Wingham Produce Super Maiden Handicap (1258m).

Daddy’s Girl is a six-year-old mare by So You Think and was formerly trained by Allan McRae. She’s had two trials at Newcastle and on the Beaumont track since joining the Lees camp.
“She’s first-up over a staying trip, but Kris will have her primed to run well,” said Gibbons. “She’s a winner over 2000m at Queanbeyan, and I’m sure she will be ready to run a good race fresh.”
Trounce is a well-bred mare by I Am Invincible and out of the mare Noondie, and has only had three starts in her career.
“I rode her in her second start in a race at Gunnedah back in May, and she ran well when finishing second in that event,” Gibbons said. “She raced on the speed in that event and fought on well and then went for a spell.
“She has a couple of trials before she resumed at Hawkesbury the other day, and she hit the line well in that event to finish fourth.
“She should have derived benefit from that hit-out and I think she should be hard to hold out at Taree on Sunday.”
Gibbons had one other ride at Taree in the shape of The Final Say for trainer Steve Hodge in the Hogan Group Maiden Plate (1609m). The Final Say started at big odds when down the track at Gosford at her latest start.

Lees, meanwhile, has two other runners going around at Taree with Autumn Heir lining up against The Final Say with Benjamin Osmond taking the ride.
Lees will also send around Cornerback in the same event Trounce contests. Shannen Llewellyn will ride Cornerback, with the gelding yet to figure in the placings from three starts.
