Shocking video has emerged of the moment a trio of home invaders pinned a man down and fired a handgun into his leg in a horrific gangland shooting.
Emergency services were called to Stafford Street in Penrith at about 11.45pm on Sunday following reports of a shooting. A 26-year-old man, who was known to police, was found with a single gunshot to the leg.
Officers intercepted three men as they raced back to their getaway car, but they were able to flee on foot.
Police said it appeared to be a “targeted attack” and appealed for CCTV and dashcam from the area to track down the culprits as the victim was rushed to hospital in a serious but stable condition.

SCN Worldstar, an independent media channel focused on the city’s underworld, shared footage on Tuesday purporting to be filmed from the home invaders.
It shows a man laying in a doorway, face down, wearing shorts on a tile floor.
A second man, wearing black gloves and dark clothes, racks a silver handgun, holds it to the back of the victim’s thigh and fires once.
A third man, who was filming the event, quickly runs from the scene into the night.
“Whoever comes against us this is their families (sic) fate!!!” is written across the video.

The Penrith shooting is the latest in a spate of gun violence across Sydney.
At least a dozen shots were fired into a home at Macquarie Fields on November 5, while another man in his 20s was shot in the leg at Greenacre on November 12.
Dozens of shots were fired into the home of an innocent elderly couple at Bossley park in Sydney’s south-west on November 15, allegedly by a 16-year-old boy and a 22-year-old accomplice.
Footage of that shooting, also released by SCN Worldstar, captures the Audi driver shouting “say hello to my little friend”, invoking a line popularised by Al Pacino in Scarface, as the gunman opens fire through the rear passenger seat window.
They both exclaim as nearly two dozen shots ring out in the suburban street, with bullet casings flying through the vehicle before the gunman urges the driver to speed away.
Investigations into the Penrith shooting remain underway.
