Until just over a week ago Future History had never won three races on the bounce but the in-form stayer will now look to extend that streak and claim a fourth Listed race on end in Monday’s $200,000 Inglis Australia Day Cup (2400m) at Warwick Farm.
The eight-year-old is racing in rare touch with all the way wins in the Christmas Cup at 2400m, the Bagot Handicap at 2800m and last start in the January Cup over 2000m.

Ciaron Maher’s assistant trainer Johann Gerard-Dubord says Future History’s recent form spike is a result of a combination of things and he can only hope it all falls into place again.
“He’s hit form, he’s full of confidence, the races have worked out well for him every time and he’s been very well ridden at his last three starts,” Gerard-Dubord said.
“It’s a career best for him but it’s a good time of the year. The races are probably not as deep.”
It was only a last-minute decision from the Maher stable to enter Future History for the January Cup at Rosehill and it was again left until the last minute to decide whether to run with rain falling on the day and the track slipping into the heavy range.
Ultimately he was one of five horses to line up and while he’s not been comfortable on wet ground a lot in the past he got the job done.
Gerard-Dubord said the step-up to 2400m will be in Future History’s favour as will the prospect of another small field with stablemate Saint George an unlikely runner while also a question on whether Ardakan takes his place
Adam Hyeronimus, who rode the gelding to Christmas Cup victory, is on board with 61kg his impost once again.

“Because of the way he races (2400m) allows him to get into a better rhythm but in saying that over 2000m on a wet track it wasn’t an issue,” Gerard-Dubord said.
“He’s a horse we’ll keep travelling to find the right races.
“He will have a little freshen at some stage but he is a very good doer so he doesn’t really need a proper break.”
