Dual premiership winner and former NSW and Australia captain James Tedesco will remain at the Sydney Roosters through to the end of 2027.
News of Tedesco’s one-year extension came on Thursday, an hour before the skipper was to front the media alongside recruit, Daly Cherry-Evans.

Despite turning 33 in January, Tedesco has never been in better form, and won the Dally M last season by a record margin.
Tedesco’s latest contract will take him through to a 10th season at Bondi Junction, having joined the club from Wests Tigers in 2018 after making his NRL debut in 2012.
Tedesco, Cherry-Evans, and five-eighth Sam Walker are all locked away for the next couple of years, with Cherry-Evans having a 2027 option in his favour built into his contract.
The decision takes Tedesco off the radar of new franchise Perth Bears for their debut season, though he was always expected to remain in red, white and blue.

“The Roosters have played a huge role in my career and my life,” Tedesco said in a club statement.
“Working with Robbo (coach Trent Robinson) has pushed me to become a better player and person, and I’m grateful for the belief he’s always shown in me.
“I know we have a lot more to achieve together, and I’m excited for what’s still to come with this group. I’m committed to doing everything I can to help us get there.”
Roosters coach Robinson added: “I’ve been fortunate to coach some outstanding players, and James stands right alongside the very best. He’s been central to our club’s identity for almost a decade, and his drive to keep evolving makes him such a special leader and person,.
“Ted embodies what it means to be a Rooster.”
