A fourth man has been charged with torturing Brisbane man Andrew Burow, whose body was found 140 kilometres away from his home last year after he had been missing for more than a week.

The 56-year-old cybersecurity manager from Kelvin Grove was reported missing on August 24 last year, with police initially searching for three black vehicles in the Blackbutt area of the South Burnett, north-west of Brisbane.

After receiving a tip about a fire in the area, multiple crime scenes were established around the region. It is at one of those sites, near the remote township of Maidenwell, where remains believed to be Burow’s were discovered on September 2.

Andrew Burow was reporting missing in August.

At the time, two men including 38-year-old Anthony Perrett, an ousted CFMEU delegate with links to former union boss Jade Ingham, had already been charged with torturing Burow.

There is no suggestion Ingham has involvement or knowledge of Perrett’s alleged criminal activity.

On October 8, Perrett, the other man – 26-year-old Billy John Howard and 57-year-old Gregory Terrace Snell – were charged with murdering Burow. Like Perrett and Howard, Snell was also charged with kidnapping, torture, extortion and deprivation of liberty.

All three were also charged with interfering with a corpse.

Police have now also charged a 44-year-old man from Lake Macdonald on the Sunshine Coast with torture, deprivation of liberty and extortion, but not murder or kidnapping.

He is expected to appear at the Brisbane Magistrates Court on February 5.

In October, Detective Acting Inspector Murray said officers suspected Burow was kidnapped after he had organised to meet Howard, who he knew, on August 21.

O’Connell said police would allege Burow was tortured Burow at several locations, before being killed on August 25.

They would allege his body was dumped the next day, he said.

O’Connell described the investigation as complex, involving eight crime scenes stretched across Brisbane, the Sunshine Coast and the South Burnett.

He said investigators had to review 1000 hours of CCTV and had seized five vehicles.

After the murder charges were laid, Burow’s family released a statement thanking police and encouraging people to come forward with information.

“We will miss his enthusiasm for life, his entrepreneurial mindset, and his willingness to give ideas a go,” the statement read.
