Transportation Secretary Sean Duffy on Wednesday announced a 10% reduction in U.S. air traffic due to the ongoing government shutdown. Starting Friday, airlines are expected to cut at least 4% of flights to 40 airports, ramping up to 10% by sometime next week – which could mean between 2,000 and 4,000 flights canceled daily.
