Welcome to the international Logies (aka The Emmys)

By Louise Rugendyke

Good morning! And happy Emmys Awards day – aka the International Logies – to those who celebrate. It has been a cracking year for television, with the return of The White Lotus, the conversation-starting Adolescence, actual TV comedy with The Studio and Hacks and the (possible) decline of the once-hot The Bear.

First, we’ll be bringing you coverage from the red carpet, with fashion editor Damien Woolnough, who is in New York for fashion week, kicking proceedings off. Then join us for the ceremony, from 10am, where our culture editor-at-large Michael Idato will be reporting from inside the Peacock Theatre in Los Angeles. deputy television editor Meg Watson and Culture writers Karl Quinn and Thomas Mitchell will keep you up-to-date with all the winners, speeches and breakout moments.

While Walton Goggins and Sam Nivola have distanced themselves from their characters in The White Lotus on the red carpet, Charlotte Le Bon chose a familiar aesthetic.

As the morally ambiguous retired model Chloe in the series, Le Bon was comfortable showing off her body and the body-hugging metallic Courreges dress from the autumn 2025 collection fits like a robot’s glove.

Before becoming an actress and director Le Bon was a model, from the age of 16. Don’t make the mistake of thinking she’s related to British supermodel Yasmin Le Bon, wife of the Duran Duran frontman Simon. Charlotte is Canadian.

Too much or not enough from Megan Statler

Hacks and Too Much actress Megan Statler continues to take a stunt approach to red carpet dressing, although this time she abandoned her preference for fast food.

At the Las Culturistas Culture Awards Statler wore a Diet Coke-themed outfit and carried a Dunkin’ Donuts clutch to the VMAs.

For the Emmys she kept it simple in a white T-shirt and jeans.

“It’s Hanes and Levis and we need to bring jeans back on the red carpet,” told an E! reporter on the red carpet.

Statler added some edge to her look with a makeshift sticker applied to her basic black tote proclaiming “CEASE FIRE!”.

Out of The Pitt

While we are still not sure why Melbourne-born supermodel Shanina Shaik is at the Emmys, Shabana Azeez’s knockout presence makes perfect sense.

The Adelaide actress from the hit series The Pitt took a break from scrubs to embrace full glamour in a frothy red gown, suitable for The Gilded Age from Marchesa.

The label co-founded by Harvey Weinstein’s ex-wife Georgina Chapman has returned to red carpet favour. Chapman is now the partner of Oscar winner Adrien Brody

Azeez is becoming increasingly familiar with awards ceremonies, having provided the voice for Lesbian Space Princess, a comedy that won the Teddy Award for best LGBTQI film at the 2025 Berlin Film Festival.

The black and white lotus: part two

While his The White Lotus co-star Walton Goggins considers the top button of any shirt an optional extra, Sam Nivola, 21, prefers to play by the rules.

Having already appeared in advertisements for the first collection from former Loewe creative director Jonathan Anderson for Dior, it’s not surprising that Nivola appeared in a black dinner suit and buttoned up white shirt.

With this look it’s all about the details, with the dainty floral waistcoat and black fringed scarf.

Any young men with school formals coming up should pay attention.

Sheer talent from Succession star

By Damien Woolnough

Actress Justine Lupe knows how to pick roles and dresses. Lupe stars alongside Kristen Bell in the series Nobody Wants This, having played Willa Ferreya in Succession. With Margot Robbie having recently given sheer dresses a stamp of approval, Lupe is on board in Carolina Herrera (did the label insist that stars arrive early in their gowns?). The dress was from the fall 2025 collection. Lupe wisely decided not to bring a ludicrously capacious handbag.

Emmy nominee Walton Goggins wisely abandoned his tropical shirt wardrobe from The White Lotus to don black and white Louis Vuitton for the red carpet from menswear creative director Pharrell Williams. It’s slightly more covered up than his magazine cover appearance earlier in the year wearing a yellow swimsuit.

As a nod to his wilder ways Goggins ignored a number of buttons on his white shirt and donned the type of necklace that many tourists to Thailand bring home as a souvenir.

An Australian warm-up at the Emmys

Confused? Just as confusing is the sighting of Melbourne-born supermodel Shanina Shaik warming up the red carpet in head-to-toe Carolina Herrera. Did I miss her starring in a television show? Is she in the next season of The White Lotus?

According to IMDB her last credit was a music video for Maluma, but this flawless look should help if the producers of the Netflix series Wednesday are thinking about recasting the role of Morticia Addams. That’s unless Catherine Zeta Jones shows up tonight.
