If attending on People’s Day (Wednesday, August 13) you can ride the famous steam train, Betty – back in operation for the first time in six years. Check the Translink site to plan the journey.
Several car parks are within walking distance, but they fill up fast.

How much are Ekka tickets?
Tickets are available online only from the Ekka website. Standard adult tickets are $40.95; concession $30.95; child $26.95; and littlies four and under free.
How can I get cheap Ekka tickets?
Discount bundles include a family of four ($90.95) and an adult and child ($54.95). Everyone has to enter the Ekka at the same time on these tickets.
If you book tickets for August 11, 12, 14 or 15 (Super Saver Days), then you’ll get a 20 per cent discount.
Another way to save money is to enter after 4pm – “Twilight” tickets are $26.95 for everyone aged five and over.
If you love the Ekka and want to go back a second day, the Back for More Pass is $22.
Can I get a passout at the Ekka?
Yes, to return the same day.
How much is an Ekka Fun Pass?
The Ekka Fun Pass is a free app where you can preload credits to use to pay for rides; 50 credits cost $45 (you save $5), 100 credits are $85 (save $15) and 150 credits are $120 (save $30).
Here’s the catch: you can’t go on rides without a fun pass – but if you don’t have a phone you can get a physical fun pass on the day from an Information Booth or self-serve kiosk, where you can also top up your credit. Find out more here.
What’s this about free tickets to Dreamworld?
It’s true – every child who attends the Ekka on Thursday, August 14 and Friday, August 15 will receive a free ticket to Dreamworld valued up to $119. But it’s a short two-month window to use them: the Dreamworld tickets will only be valid from September 1 until October 31 this year.
When can I see the Ekka fireworks?
There are fireworks in the Main Arena every night of the show from 7.45pm. Good vantage points include the John MacDonald Stand, Machinery Hill, Heritage Hill and the XXXX Stockmen’s Bar and Grill.
How much is a strawberry sundae?
Strawberry sundaes are available at nine different locations and cost $6.80 if you pre-buy a voucher. More than 130,000 sundaes are sold each year at the Ekka.

How much are showbags?
Showbags range in price this year from a thrifty $5 for a Bertie Beetle Blue Showbag to an eye-watering $130 for a Morish Nuts Ultimate Value Cooler Bag.
Bluey and Bingo bags are $32 each this year, while Minecraft ones are $35.
More than 350 different bags are on sale this year, including 90 new ones.

What should I do if I lose my kid at the Ekka?
Parents are encouraged to get a free wristband from the police marquee on Gregory Terrace as soon as they arrive at the Ekka and to write their mobile number on their child’s wristband.
The Lost Persons station at the Gregory Terrace Police Station is open 9am-8.30pm.
What are some other useful Ekka facts I should know?
There is a charging station under the John Mac Tunnel if your phone runs out of battery.
You can bring your own food and drinks to the Ekka, but no alcohol.
Lockers are available to hire – find them alongside the train line on the Sideshow Alley side.
