The latest three-year-old excitement machine facing the starter for the first time is set to steal the show at Thursday’s Scone meeting.

Athletic filly Perfect Force makes her debut for the Nathan Doyle stable at Newcastle and a long list of owners in a maiden handicap over the 900m dash.

A daughter of generational Group 1 champion Lonhro, and out of a mare by Group 3 winner Commands, Perfect Force is likely to jump favourite in a competitive betting race.

She caught the eye in the latest of two spaced trials over 1000m on the Beaumont track, conceding ground early in the straight before sweeping home wider out under a good hold to be beaten under two lengths.

It was the trial work of a filly well above average, and from a middle barrier at Scone she’s set to open her career with a bang before being aimed at much bigger sprint targets in early autumn.

And Perfect Force might be the visiting exception rather than the rule across an open meeting expected to be dominated by locally trained gallopers.

On a day when many first starters are on show, punters won’t have to wait long for a taste of the next generation when a field of two-year-old debutantes open the meeting over also over the 900m scamper.

The race shapes as a real showdown between a home-based gelding and a much-touted filly from Randwick.

Savage Look, by speed sire Wild Ruler, starts off two impressive and spaced trial wins for the Rodney Northam stable.

Drawn the outside barrier in a field of seven, though, is likely race favourite Better By Far, an exciting filly by 2020 Golden Slipper winner Farnan in the Gai Waterhouse and Adrian Bott yard at Randwick.

Better By Far looked smart winning the second of two home lead-up trials by nearly three lengths a fortnight ago.

The Doyle stable also has a hand with Portland Sky filly Sambuca Sky who opens behind a steady trial on the Beaumont track.

And Dubbo trainer Brett Robb will also carry some confidence into the race with Rubelin, a filly by Caulfield Guineas winner All Too Hard who also kicks off her career off a trial win.

The eight-race meeting will be run on a very firm track, with temperatures throughout the day expected to reach 36 degrees.
