A 21-year-old man accused of abusing a young child at a Brisbane childcare centre has had his case heard in court for the first time.
Nicolas James Parisi was accused of indecent treatment at Milestones Early Learning in Tingalpa on July 10.
The 21-year-old from Cleveland did not appear at Brisbane Magistrates Court on Monday morning when his case was mentioned.
Affinity childcare worker Nicolas Parisi has been charged by Queensland police with indecent treatment of a child.
Parisi’s case was adjourned until August 25. He remains on conditional bail and has not entered a plea.
Solicitor Alan Phillips represented Parisi at the courthouse opposite Roma Street Police Station.
Few details on the alleged abuse or how it was reported have emerged, and media applications to view case documents were rejected.
The arrest was revealed on July 17, a full week after the alleged crime took place.
Milestones Early Learning is owned by Affinity Education Group.
In a statement to media, the company confirmed Parisi had been stood down.
It said parents had not been told until after the allegations emerged in the media as the matter was referred to police.
“As this is an active investigation, communication with parents regarding this matter is being managed by Queensland police,” it said.
“We are supporting all families in any way we can, including offering counselling support services.”
