Police are hunting for a 36-year-old Logan man after his carer was found dead at his residence in the early hours of Monday morning.
The 46-year-old woman from Ashgrove was reported missing by family about 1am on Monday.
She was last seen at The Gap about 7pm on Saturday.
Investigations led police to a property on Waterford Tamborine Road in Buccan, south of Brisbane, to conduct a welfare check about 3am on Monday.
The woman, who was employed as the man’s carer, was found dead on the back deck of the property with injuries to her body, police said.
A crime scene was declared, and forensic police remain at the scene.
Police said they were awaiting the results of a postmortem examination to determine the cause of death.
Logan district Acting Detective Inspector Justin Anderson said police are still working to locate the man.
“If anyone knows the whereabouts of the resident of the address at Buccan, I’d ask them to not approach this person, but ask them to contact Crime Stoppers,” he said.
“And if this 36-year-old man sees this media release, I’d ask him to contact police.”
SES workers will conduct a search of the five-acre property, including a dam, on Monday afternoon.
“We’ll be looking for anything that may assist in bringing us answers as to what has happened leading up to this woman’s death,” Anderson said.
Queensland Police Minister Dan Purdie said the sudden death was “a tragic circumstance” and the homicide squad was involved in the investigation.
