Bus goes up in flames in Southbank, sending acrid smell across city

A bus fire in Southbank has closed a thoroughfare and sent acrid smoke wafting through Melbourne.

Vision online shows flames emanating from the bus on Power Street near the CityLink off-ramp, and an enormous plume of smoke blowing eastward over the city towards the Yarra.

Fire rages from the back of the bus.

Power Street has been closed in all directions as a result.

A witness on the ground reported a nasty mechanical smell emanating from the area.
