A baby girl has been killed and a five-year-old boy is in a serious condition after being hit by a car at a shopping centre in Sydney’s south-west on Monday afternoon.
Emergency services were called to Minto Mall on Brookfield Road, north of Campbelltown, at about 3.30pm, after the white SUV hit the infant and the young boy.

Police frantically performed CPR on the five-month-old girl before she was treated by arriving paramedics. They were unable to revive her and she died at the scene.
The boy was transported to Westmead Children’s Hospital in a serious but stable condition.
“A baby was hit in the stroller, and another toddler was injured. A lot of shoppers – there were a few people traumatised by seeing it,” a witness told Nine News.
The 35-year-old driver of a white Reno SUV involved in the crash was uninjured. Nine News said investigators were probing whether the woman intended to move the car forward, but accidentally put it in reverse and hit the children.
Aerial shots show the SUV stationed over the break lines in the car park, with debris across the concrete pavement on one side of the vehicle and an empty pram on the other.
Footage also shows paramedics treating the children behind white sheets and under the shade of an umbrella in the middle of the car park, as well as police consoling each other at the scene.
A crime scene has been established and police have launched an investigation.
