An armed group is believed to be hiding from police after crashing a stolen car north of Brisbane.

The vehicle smashed outside a property on Old Caloundra Road in Glenview sometime before 12.55pm.

Multiple occupants, including one with a gun, reportedly fled on foot and have been hiding since.

A police exclusion zone has been set up in the area, with the public told to stay away and residents urged to remain indoors.

The boundaries takes in a stretch of the Bruce Highway and edges of Corbould Park near Caloundra.

Specialist officers have been called to the scene.

“No further information is available at this time,” a police statement said.

Glenview is about 90 kilometres north of the Brisbane CBD, and about one hour and 10 minutes by car. It is directly west of Currimundi on the Sunshine Coast.

This is a developing story.
