“Add into that premium food and beverage offerings and reclining seats, and it creates that entire experience that allows the customer to really be immersed in the story.”

And it’s not just the cinema creature comforts – even how films are projected has evolved.

“What a lot of people won’t necessarily know is that for more than 100 years, the [cinema experience] was effectively the same: a light source projected through celluloid film, and about a decade ago, that changed to digital projection.”

With cinema designed for total immersion, Wrightson says the sound is curated for consistency. But if you’re looking for the sweet spot, he has a hot tip.

“When we curate the sound, of course it’s all curated to deliver a great experience to everyone. But the best seat in the house is definitely right in the middle.”
